Death being investigated on one of Great Lakes’ largest freighters

An autopsy was scheduled for today after a Pennsylvania coroner said a man appears to have fallen to his death inside a Great Lakes freighter docked in a Lake Erie port.

The American Integrity, one of about a dozen thousand-foot freighters that carry cargo across the Great Lakes, was the scene of the weekend incident that claimed the life of a 44-year-old man, officials told Erie News Now.

According to the local coroner handling the case, the death occurred early Saturday aboard the freighter, which is at the Donjon Shipbuilding and Repair in Erie, where it has reportedly been undergoing maintenance…
