The Erie Bird Observatory is asking for volunteers as a rooftop in Erie once again becomes home to a ring-billed gull colony for the third year in a row.
Ring-billed gulls often nest on gravel rooftops, but their chicks frequently fall to the ground and are unable to get back to safety on their own. Volunteers are needed to join the The Erie Gull Rescue Team. Members will help document fallen chicks or transport injured birds to the Tamarack Wildlife Center.
All of the work is done from public sidewalks, with minimal handling of chicks, and on-site training is provided to volunteers…
