First-ever Summer Programming and Resource Fair held at Erie High

When school gets out in the summer, high school students are often looking for activities to do, and the United Way of Erie County is helping kids keep busy

The organization held its first Summer Programming and Resource Fair at Erie’s Public Schools’ Erie High.

Local high schoolers experience real financial situations in simulation

During their four lunch periods, students were able to chat with local organizations about opportunities to keep them engaged while school is out.

The community school director, Glen Conner, said their goal is to increase student awareness.

“So many kids tell us there’s nothing to do in the city, there’s nothing going on in the summer, and I just want to show them, there’s more than you may think. We have a lot of variety of programs. We’ve got art, we’ve got science, we’ve got urban university, the library, we have scouts in our career explorers here.
