CONNEAUT, Ohio — Canada-based graphite developer Graphite One plans to build a proposed $1.4 billion battery materials facility in the city of Conneaut, a project local officials say could bring up to 160 permanent jobs and transform the Ashtabula County port city into a hub for the domestic electric vehicle supply chain.
Earlier this week, the company announced it had secured a site in Conneaut through a license of occupation agreement with the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad Company, a subsidiary of Canadian National Railway, for its planned Active Anode Materials facility.
Graphite One said the site offers direct access to Lake Erie shipping routes, rail connectivity through CN and existing power infrastructure, including an on-site substation. The company said the property also provides room for future expansion…
