Lane County detectives investigating the online exploitation of a local child through Snapchat have identified and arrested a 19-year-old Newport man, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said detectives with its Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began the investigation in February 2026. On July 1, investigators identified the suspect as Diego Rojas-Hernandez, 19, of Newport.
Because Rojas-Hernandez lives outside Lane County, the sheriff’s office requested help from the Oregon State Police.
