SWEET HOME, Ore. – The Sweet Home Fire District received three new emergency vehicles bought with money from a bond measure voters approved in 2024.
The district took delivery of a new ambulance to replace a 2005 ambulance box that was refitted in 2017 to extend its life beyond the typical lifespan. The district also received two new brush trucks. One brush truck will primarily be used as an incident command vehicle staffed daily by the on-duty battalion chief. The second is a specialized “super single” that allows firefighters the best access in rural and difficult to access areas.
“They’ll help our response considerably, especially with the new super single,” said Josh Bondesen, battalion chief for the Sweet Home Fire District. “It’s going to allow us to get deep into fields and into property lines and things that we wouldn’t normally be able to get into.”…
