About 35 veterans and supporters attended a flag ceremony Tuesday, July 14, at the Veterans Memorial Building in Eugene to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary.
The event featured the raising of three different flags: an American flag; a flag honoring prisoners of war and those service members who are missing in action; and a 250th anniversary flag for America.
Speakers at the event said the three flags were hoisted in the order of America’s accomplishments: On the top of the flagpole flew the American flag, honoring the United States’ formation as a country. The middle flag, the familiar POW-MIA flag, honored those who have sacrificed for the country.
