Springfield, Oregon – A local man has been ordered to serve more than 45 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of dozens of charges tied to the prolonged abuse of his young son. The case centered on repeated use of a Taser as discipline, including forcing the child to hold a push-up position while the rest of the household ate dinner. Prosecutors described the conduct as systematic and captured on home surveillance footage that revealed far more incidents than initially reported.

The Pattern of Abuse

Brandon Rogers, 45, and the boy’s mother, Heather Black, 38, subjected their 7-year-old son to electric shocks on multiple occasions. Investigators determined the abuse occurred at least twice in distinct episodes, but video evidence showed it happened several times each day over consecutive days. The couple also pointed the Taser at their 4-year-old daughter in a menacing manner on repeated occasions.

One particularly disturbing routine involved the boy maintaining a push-up stance during evening meals. If he lowered his body, Rogers would deliver a shock and yell at him. Court records indicate no other adult in the home intervened at any point during these episodes.
