EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene Police arrested a man after he swung a guitar at officers and ran from them following a trespassing call, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD officials said officers were called to the 1000 block of Jackson Street on Aug. 6, 2026, after residents reported a trespasser. Residents told police that 49-year-old Benjamin Holladay had been camping between two homes and had been asked to leave. When officers arrived, Holladay was no longer on the property. After officers cleared the scene, they received a second call reporting that Holladay had returned and was inside a shed belonging to one of the homes. Officers returned and found Holladay inside the shed. He exited when asked and left the property. Shortly afterward, Holladay began throwing rocks and yelling incoherently.
When officers ordered him to stop, he wielded an acoustic guitar as a weapon and swung it in their direction. Officers again ordered him to stop and advised him he was under arrest…
