Four pedestrians struck after SUV rolls over in Springfield crash

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Four pedestrians were struck after a two-vehicle crash caused an SUV to roll onto a sidewalk in Springfield on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Springfield Police Department (SPD).

Police responded around 3:16 p.m. Aug. 18 to the intersection of South 35th Street and Oregon Avenue following a report of a crash involving vehicles and pedestrians.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2026 Volkswagen SUV traveling west on Oregon Avenue collided with a 2015 Toyota SUV traveling north on South 35th Street, police said.

The impact caused the Toyota to roll over and land on four pedestrians who were walking on the sidewalk at the northwest corner of the intersection.

Three of the four pedestrians were taken by ambulance to a hospital. Police said their injuries ranged from minor to serious but were not considered life-threatening…
