Illinois man arrested by Eugene police after driving 99 miles per hour

A driver clocked at 99 mph early Saturday morning in Eugene was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to Eugene police.

An officer observed the driver, later identified as Robert Austin Schneider of Illinois, speeding at 2:40 a.m. Aug. 22 on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Kinsrow Avenue. During the traffic stop, the officer smelled alcohol and marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Schneider had two passengers in the vehicle. Police said he admitted to having one drink and smoking marijuana the day before. Two marijuana pipes were seen inside the vehicle on the center console…
