Eugene woman, 80, jailed after pointing gun at her son

EUGENE, Ore. – Authorities arrested an 80-year-old woman after she called 9-1-1 to report pointing a gun at her son, according to the Eugene Police Department.

Officers went to a home on Ivy Glen Drive at 4:11 p.m. Sept. 6. The caller told dispatch she was trying to hit her son with a pistol and had pointed it at him. The son, 50, told officers the two were in a dispute when his mother, Yvonne Ballew, held the gun under his chin. He said she struck him twice with the barrel of the gun.
