The award-winning documentary film SPACE, HOPE and CHARITY will be shown at the Art House at 6:30pm on Monday, October 26, followed by a conversation with the film’s subject, Dr. Charity Woodrum; her mentor Dr. Scott Fisher, director of the University of Oregon’s Pine Mountain Observatory; and Oregon filmmaker Sandy Cummings.
The film follows the remarkable journey of Charity Woodrum from growing up in poverty in rural Oregon, through tragedy, as she doggedly pursues her dream of becoming a NASA astrophysicist. Dr. Woodrum was a student at the University of Oregon when she lost her husband and three-year-old son tragically. With help from childhood friends, mentors and perfect strangers, she was able to get her life back on track, finding purpose and meaning by exploring far-off galaxies…
