Anderson alum Cheridan Hawkins being inducted into Oregon Ducks Hall of Fame on Saturday

ANDERSON, Calif. – Anderson High School alum and University of Oregon graduate Cheridan Hawkins is being inducted into the Oregon Ducks Hall of Fame this weekend.

Hawkins was a two-time Northern Section MVP in high school, and easily one of the best athletes in Anderson High School history.

After graduating high school in 2012, Hawkins got a scholarship offer to pitch for the Oregon Ducks in Eugene. There, she became a 3-time All-American, and a 3-time All-Academic All-American.

Even though she graduated in the spring of 2016, Hawkins still holds Oregon’s career records with 108 wins and 1,081 strikeouts. She also threw 7 no-hitters (including a perfect game) and set the school record for most strikeouts in a single game, and most strikeouts in a season.

But, despite all that she’s accomplished, Hawkins told me she never sought out becoming a college hall of famer. “It’s honestly surreal. I haven’t wrapped my head around it would be the best way to put it” she began.

She continued, “I’m super grateful and super thankful, and really excited to go up this weekend and spend the time with my family. But, I really enjoyed my time at Oregon, and I think it’s crazy that I’m being inducted. It just doesn’t feel real.”

These days, Hawkins is back at Anderson, where she teaches special needs students and coaches the varsity softball team…
