Man dies after becoming pinned between two vehicles in crash

EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene police said a man died after becoming pinned between two vehicles in a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Friday afternoon in west Eugene. EPD officials said police responded at 1:59 p.m. on January 19 to a crash in the area of West 6th Avenue and Garfield Street. A motorist, identified as Judah Ray Dulaney, 47, parked his Ford F250 on the south side of West 6th Avenue and removed a hazard from the roadway, police said. Police said as he was returning to his vehicle, Dulaney noticed his truck had begun rolling backwards into traffic on West 6th Avenue. Dulaney tried to physically stop the truck as it rolled through the intersection toward a stationary Dodge Charger, authorities said. Police said the driver of the Charger steered to the left to try and avoid the impact but Dulaney was caught between the two vehicles when the driver’s side of the Ford impacted the passenger rear quarter panel of the Charger. Investigators later discovered that the Ford was in reverse gear at the time of impact, police said. Authorities said first responders attempted life-saving measures but Dulaney suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
