SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Hazelnut orchards across western Oregon suffered severe damage from the January ice storm, creating obstacles for a harvest this year. The hazelnut orchards at Dorris Ranch in Springfield suffered their fair share of damage. Willamalane officials say 35 acres, over half of the orchard, sustained severe damage. Crews have cleared enough of the debris for the orchards to be reopened to the public, but there is so much damage they have not been able to fully assess the impact of it all.
