PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Two Portland teenagers and a 20-year-old Eugene resident were arrested Wednesday in connection to a shooting in an elementary school parking lot in Eugene, according to authorities.

Just before 3:30 p.m., Eugene police say officers responded to a report of shots fired from a blue Ford Explorer in the Willagillespie Elementary School parking lot.

When officers arrived, the suspect vehicle from which shots were fired had already left the scene, fleeing northbound, authorities say.

A short time later, officers and deputies from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office spotted the Explorer and went after it. During the pursuit, the vehicle tried to drive across a field and was stopped by a fall into a nearby creek.

Police arrested the driver, 19-year-old Alexander Mullins of Portland, on charges of first-degree attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering, attempting to elude a police vehicle and tampering with evidence.
