Oregon Lands Massive Commitment From 4-Star Defensive Lineman

Four-star defensive lineman Matthew Johnson announced his commitment to Oregon on Friday. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound defensive lineman is from Concord, California, and committed to the Ducks over USC and Miami.

Johnson is the No. 337 overall prospect and No. 37 defensive lineman in the class of 2025. He ranks as the No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 27 player in California, according to the On3 industry rankings .

As a junior, Johnson recorded 30 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Following Johnson’s commitment, Oregon’s 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 6 nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten. The class is headlined by four-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson and four-star quarterback Akili Smith Jr.
