A man was arrested after a hit and run incident at the intersection of East 6th Avenue and Oak Street. The incident, which occurred on February 9 around 5:08 p.m., involved a couple being hit by a Subaru Forester. The driver did not stop after the incident.
A bystander helped one of the victims out of the traffic lane and blocked traffic with his van. The victims, a 49-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, were assessed by Eugene Springfield Fire and found to have non-life-threatening injuries. The Eugene Police were informed and responded quickly.
The suspect, 29-year-old Kile Clark Elder, was later located by an officer near West 6th Avenue and Chambers Street. The officer stopped Elder, who resisted arrest.
Despite Elder’s resistance, he was safely taken into custody and transported to the Lane County Jail. There, he kicked the windows of the patrol vehicle.
Elder has been charged with Hit and Run Felony, two counts of Vehicular Assault, two counts of Reckless Endangering, and Resisting Arrest. The case, numbered 24-01980, is currently being investigated.
