On February 9, Eugene Police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at the intersection of East 6th Avenue and Oak Street. A couple was hit by a Subaru Forester while crossing the street, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Subaru fled the scene, leaving the injured couple.

A bystander blocked traffic with his van and helped one of the victims out of the traffic lane. The victims, a 49-year-old male and a 51-year-old female, were evaluated by Eugene Springfield Fire. Both victims were reported to be in a non-life-threatening condition despite their injuries.

The suspect, 29-year-old Kile Clark Elder, was later located by an officer near West 6th Avenue and Chambers Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Elder. However, Elder resisted arrest.

Despite Elder’s resistance, the officers managed to arrest him safely. During his transport to the Lane County Jail, Elder kicked the patrol vehicle’s windows.

Elder was charged with Hit and Run Felony, two counts of Vehicular Assault, two counts of Reckless Endangering, and Resisting Arrest under case number 24-01980.
