9 Eugene-area swimmers to watch at the OSAA state championships

The OSAA swimming state championships will take place Friday and Saturday at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton.

Friday’s preliminaries kickoff with Class 6A at 9 a.m. followed by 4A/3A/2A/1A at 1:45 p.m. and 5A at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, finals begin with 6A at 8:15 a.m., 4A/3A/2A/1A at 1:15 p.m. and 5A at 6:30 p.m.

Here are nine Eugene-area swimmers to watch this weekend.

Burke Sherman, South Eugene

The sophomore holds the No. 3 seed in the 6A boys 100 backstroke (51.20), where the top six spots are separated by less than a second.

Eloise Huling, Sheldon

The junior is the No. 4 seed in the 6A girls 100 breaststroke at 1:05.31. She’s No. 9 in the 200 IM (2:11.93).

Brody Wyatt, Thurston

The freshman is the top seed in the 5A boys 100 backstroke at 55.17. He’s also No. 4 in the 100 freestyle (49.62).

Quinn Devenport, Thurston

The sophomore holds the No. 2 seed in the 5A boys 50 freestyle (22.05). He’s also No. 4 in the 200 freestyle (1:46.42).

Analeigh Mjelde, Thurston

The freshman is the No. 5 seed in the 5A girls 100 breaststroke (1:12.55). She is also No. 9 in the 200 IM (2:20.89).
