Union Catholic Track Legend Sydney McLaughlin Advances to 400m Hurdle Final at Olympic Trials

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ –Union Catholic track legend and defending Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin advanced to the finals of the 400m hurdles with a win Saturday evening at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

McLaughlin won the semifinals at 52.48, the fastest time in the world this year. Dalilah Muhammad, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist in Rio, finished second in Saturday’s semifinal with a time of 54.16. They will meet again in the finals on Sunday.

Scotch Plains resident Ryan Matulonis advanced to the 400m hurdle semi-finals on Friday, but did not advance to the final round.
