Wall of Honor on display in Harrisburg pays tribute to Iraq and Afghanistan service members

HARRISBURG, Ore. – Some are taking time this Fourth of July to honor service members who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. The “Vets Helping Vets H-Q” Wall of Honor is on display at the Harrisburg Fire Department until 2 p.m. on July 5, showcasing the names and service flags of more than 6,500 people who lost their lives between 1991 and 2021. The 35-panel display showcases veterans from around the United States and represents every branch of military service from every state, starting with Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and up to the loss of the Kabul 13 in 2021. The Wall was created in 2003 by an Oregon high school student as part of her senior class project and Vets Helping Vets out of Albany eventually took it over.
