Lane County utilities working to craft plan to mitigate natural hazards

EUGENE, Ore. – Several city and utility agencies in Lane County are asking for the public’s feedback on their efforts to craft a natural hazards mitigation plan. According to officials from the Eugene Water and Electric Board, Rainbow Water District, and other utilities, a Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan is meant to identify natural hazards, vulnerabilities and risks facing local, state and tribal governments, then prioritize ways to reduce those risks. The City of Eugene, City of Springfield, EWEB, and Rainbow Water District have been part of a shared hazard mitigation plan since the early 2000s, and now they’re combining with other agencies to create a larger, county-wide plan.
