Creswell man hit by truck, killed while walking on Highway 99 at night

A Creswell man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle while walking along the travel lane northbound on Highway 99 near milepost 10 north of Cottage Grove on Friday.

According to the Oregon State Police, troopers responded to the scene just after 10:30 p.m. and learned that David Paul Burns, 39, of Creswell, was walking northbound on the highway when a black Toyota Tundra struck him.

Burns was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the Tundra was uninjured and cooperated with an investigation.

OSP said the highway was impacted for three hours for an on-scene investigation.
