Eugene School District 4J has begun to dive into its search for a permanent superintendent following the controversial departure of Andy Dey in the spring.
Interim Superintendent Colt Gill took over the role in April. After its summer hiatus, the 4J school board has made steps toward finding a permanent leader for the district, creating an ad hoc search committee, which has established a proposed timeline for the search process.
According to this proposed timeline, the board would select a new superintendent by the end of March 2025. The person selected would then begin working in July of 2025.
During a board meeting on Wednesday, the members discussed the upcoming item on the timeline — selecting a search firm to assist.
4J is calling for written, informal proposals from “experienced executive search firms or individuals” who would provide consulting services for its national search for a superintendent. The deadline for firms or individuals to submit their proposals is Sept. 23 at 5 p.m.
