The City of Eugene will soon host two open houses to provide information and gather feedback from residents about several planned transportation projects.
The first open house will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the gym at North Eugene High School (250 Silver Lane). It will focus on projects planned for the River Road and Santa Clara areas, including:
- Adding roundabouts to Division Avenue
- Extending West Bank Path
- Adding a bicycle and pedestrian bridge connecting River Road and Santa Clara over Beltline Highway
- Bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements to Hunsaker Lane
- Bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements to Grove Street
The second open house will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Eugene Library in the Bascom-Tykeson Room (100 W 10th Ave.). This session will focus on projects planned for downtown Eugene and the riverfront area, including:
- A protected bikeway for Lincoln Street from 13th Ave to 5th Ave
- Some of the recommendations identified in the 2018 Eugene Courthouse Transportation Subarea Study , including:
- Reducing the number of lanes on Broadway and reconfiguring the Broadway/Mill Street intersection
- Removing travel lanes and adding parking on 6th and 7th Avenues
- Making Hilyard Street 2-way between 8th Avenue and High/6th
- New railroad crossings from E 8th Avenue to Van Buren Street
- How to use the redesigned 8th Avenue
- The Franklin Boulevard rebuild
- Outcomes from the Downtown and Riverfront Public Transportation and Shared Mobility Study as well as “walking, biking, and taking the bus to, from, and within Downtown Eugene” more generally.
