Investigation underway after arson incident at Oakway Center

EUGENE, Ore — The Oakway Center sees its fair share of residents as a shopping center, many residents were shocked when they heard about the arson incident. At midnight on September 11, 2024, Eugene-Springfield Fire responded to six fires at the Oakway Center and nearby neighborhoods. They were burning near businesses and a hotel. According to the department, much of the damage was minimal and contained to the dumpsters. However next to the Emerald Lanes Bowling Alley, a pole and some trees were burned by flames. Eugene residents like Brian Carroll couldn’t believe so many fires would be ignited in one area.
