Cool and Wet Weather Expected in Portland Area Starting Tuesday

A significant weather change is on the horizon for northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, as warm and pleasant conditions on Monday will give way to cool, wet weather starting Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a frontal system will bring widespread rain to the region, beginning along the coast by mid-morning and moving inland to the Willamette Valley by early afternoon.

Rain is expected to taper off by Tuesday night, with the heaviest precipitation concentrated along the coast and in the southern Willamette Valley. While Portland and Salem may only see around a tenth to two-tenths of an inch of rain, areas like Eugene and the Oregon Coast could receive up to half an inch or more.

Dry conditions are expected to return by Wednesday afternoon, with temperatures hovering in the low to mid-70s through the end of the week.
