National search ends for Cottage Grove murder suspect who was found, arrested in Portland

A 31-year-old Cottage Grove man accused of killing Rozaleena Rasmussen, 29, was taken into custody on Saturday in Portland.

Anthony Tyrrell, 31, is charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the first degree. A nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest on July 11.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office in July, Rasmussen was found dead in the Cottage Grove area in June and appeared to be the victim of a homicide.

A missing persons poster shared to Facebook by Rasmussen’s family in early July described her as someone who is “very friendly, loves to help others, loved by her large family and many friends.” She left behind her beloved emotional support dog in her apartment in Cottage Grove, which her family said she’d never do unless she was in danger.

In a news release on Monday, the sheriff’s office said Tyrrell was arrested by the Portland Police Bureau on Saturday on charges related to Rasmussen’s death and additional charges while under investigation for an unrelated incident in the Portland area. Those unrelated charges include two counts of fourth-degree assault, first-degree trespassing and second-degree theft.
