Josh Pate on Late Kick: “Oregon Did What Elite Teams Do”

On the Late Kick Show this week Josh Pate had a rapid reaction to the Ducks’ 35-0 win over Purdue in Ross-Ade Stadium Friday night.

“That is as good an indicator that you’ve got a program and a coaching staff with its act together as anything.”

“Bama beat Georgia, and then they pissed it away the next week because they came up to Vanderbilt and lost. Oregon did what elite teams do. They beat Ohio State, and then they just went and drug a team in their own back yard and gave them no reason to even have hope. They never allowed them to have a breath of oxygen. Done. Over.”

Indeed, the Ducks won the toss and elected to receive. On the fifth play of the game Dillon Gabriel hit Evan Stewart for a 49-yard pass down the right sideline, perfectly thrown, caught with a defender wrapped around his shoulder pads. In the second quarter the Ducks went 99 yards in 6 plays to take a 21-0 lead. The defense had 10 tackles for loss while holding the Spoilermakers to 93 yards passing and 4-12 on third down, 0-3 on fourth down.
