Openings, closures and Black Friday: Eugene’s shifting food scene ahead of Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving week begins, Eugene’s culinary landscape is undergoing some big changes. While some local favorites are shutting their doors, others are gearing up to offer fresh options. Sprout Kitchen on Willamette will be closing, although with a promise that the owners won’t be leaving the Eugene food scene. Students and foodies living around the University of Oregon campus can look forward to their new eatery, Atlas, which is set to open in mid-December.

Meanwhile, Black Friday promises unique deals for food lovers across the city. Many local stores are having sales on food, wine and beer, offering locals some great ways to enjoy the holiday.

Celebrate Black Friday with local beers

Many local beer houses and breweries are celebrating Black Friday in their own way.

PublicHouse

PublicHouse in Springfield will be hosting “Black Beer Friday,” where they celebrate their darkest beers by putting them on tap. Customers can expect beers from confinement barrels as well as limited-release stouts and porters. Specialty beers available Friday include the Cascade Burbonic Plague, a pFriem rum-aged porter and Pelican’s Father of All Tsunamis from 2019.
