PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — The Eugene Police Department is calling attention to an unsolved homicide that occurred more than 50 years ago.
According to a Facebook post , EPD’s Cold Case Squad is still investigating the August 1973 murder of Gayle Elizabeth Le Clair.

Officials said the 22-year-old woman’s coworkers checked her residence after she failed to show up for work at the Eugene Public Library. She was found dead with multiple stab wounds at 1781 Sylvan Street.
Eugene police reported there was no sign of forced entry to her residence. Le Clair had gone on a date to a drive-in movie with a “known acquaintance” the night before, according to law enforcement.
The agency said the acquaintance saw her alive for the last time at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 23, and her murder could have occurred any time from 1:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
