2 pedestrians hospitalized after separate Eugene crashes at 11th Avenue intersections

Two people were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after two separate vehicle-versus-pedestrian crashes occurred within hours of each other along West 11th Avenue at the Commerce Street intersection and Oak Patch Road intersection in Eugene late Thursday into early Friday morning.

According to the Eugene Police Department, an officer came upon the scene of a crash at a crosswalk near the intersection at Commerce Street at around 8 p.m. Thursday.

The responding officer immediately called for emergency medical assistance from the Eugene Springfield Fire Department. While the driver involved in the crash remained on scene and cooperated with an investigation, the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police officials said in a press release.

The eastbound lanes on W. 11th Avenue between the Beltline Highway and Commerce were shut down for several hours during an on-scene investigation by EPD’s Major Collision Investigation Team.
