SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – No injuries were reported after occupants safely evacuated an east Springfield home when fire broke out in its attached garage on Sunday morning, according to Eugene Springfield Fire officials.
According to ESF authorities and dispatch logs, firefighters responded shortly after 8 a.m. on March 9 to a house fire in the 6500 block of E Street. Initial reports described a fire in an attached garage with firefighters arriving within four minutes of the dispatched call to find active fire in the garage and heavy smoke inside the home, according to fire officials. Authorities said that firefighters searched the home and reported heavy, dark smoke on the second floor.
