Lake Corporation appeals Oswego Lake ruling, believes it can win

The Lake Corporation has followed through with its intention to appeal the recent judgement deeming the waters of Oswego Lake public and requiring the city of Lake Oswego to remove barriers and signs preventing access at Millennium Plaza Park.

The organization that is made up of property owners along Oswego Lake — which was considered to be private for decades — filed a notice of appeal with the Oregon Court of Appeals Wednesday, March 12.

The recent judgement submitted by Clackamas County Circuit Court Judge Kathi Steele ordered the city to remove boulders, metal reeds and other obstructions within 120 days, while “no trespassing” and “private lake” signs at the entry to the lake from Millennium Plaza Park were directed to be removed in the next month. The court said the city could maintain its rules preventing access at Headlee Walkway and Sundeleaf Plaza.
