EUGENE, Ore. – One of the greatest American musicals of all time is coming to the Hult Center and a South Eugene High School graduate has a leading role.
Simon Longnight is currently with a Broadway tour in Portland and he’ll be with the cast and crew when they come to Eugene for a two-week tour. “Hamilton” is the epic saga that follows the rise of one of the founding fathers of the United States, Alexander Hamilton, as he fights for honor, love, and a legacy that would shape the course of a nation. Longnight plays the role of Marquis De Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson and says he’ll never forget the moment being told he earned the part.
“When they told me that I was going to be playing the Maquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, they also told me that I’d be playing the role opposite Lin Manuel Miranda, the creator and Original Star in Puerto Rico,” Longnight said. “And… it was wilder than my craziest dream. I felt very overjoyed, and felt like I was at the top of a mountain…(it was) amazing.”…
