The couple said they are frightened and confused after the incident.
“Whoever came, they came in the middle of the night, they had a backpack, they were prepared. It could have happened to anybody and now I feel very unsure of where we’re at,” one said. “Before, I felt like I could leave my front door open, and now I feel a little bit unsecure about that.”
The vandalism in Eugene is part of a nationwide trend of vandalism and attacks affecting Tesla dealerships and owners. In February, a woman was charged with throwing Molotov cocktails and spray painting a Tesla dealership in Colorado, and earlier in March, police investigated gunshots fired at a Tesla dealership in Tigard. Peaceful protests have also been held at many Tesla locations, where demonstrators have voiced their opposition to Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, and the Department of Government Efficiency that he leads.
Back in Eugene, the couple said there has been a rise in people being aggressive to them on the road even before the vandalism. The couple said they’re frustrated with the vandalism, and that it’s cost them significant time, money, and emotional damage…
