Combo of dry and wet this weekend

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – As promised, it has been wet! Metro area locations picked up anywhere from a third to three quarters of an inch of rain by 4 p.m. Friday. Highs will top out in the upper 40s and low 50s once again. Models did a good job with the wind forecast- it got gusty out there Thursday night and through this morning. Peak gusts in the valleys didn’t exceed 35 MPH, so nothing damaging.

It was a nice additional snow dump for the Cascades, with around another foot accumulating at the upper ski resorts in the last 24 hours. The passes look fine though, above-freezing temperatures are keeping roads mainly bare. Plan on icy conditions early and late.

Steady rain will transition to showers tonight in the valleys, and eventually we’ll dry out overnight. We’re starting Saturday on a dry and partly cloudy note, but clouds will thicken up quickly. Areas to our south closer to Eugene will see some light rain in the afternoon, but we’ll likely stay dry in Portland until later in the evening when we might get a light shower or two. It will be noticeably calmer Saturday…
