EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County Health and Human services is calling for donations of important items to help homeless individuals in the community.
Operation ‘Fill the Stockpile’ is an effort to collect clothing and gear to help unhoused individuals stay safe and warm during the colder months and First Christian Church hosted a donation drive on the afternoon of March 21 in downtown Eugene. Such donations as tents, tarps, blankets, pillows, rain ponchos, sleeping bags, hand sanitizer, flashlights, warm clothing, and more were accepted from 1 to 5 p.m. during the event.
“Part of why we’re doing this donation drive to the cold weather stockpile is all of our clothing ministries need help right now,” said Zane Ridings, co-pastor of Eugene First Christian Church. “Both the ones here at the church of which we have three total and our neighbor and colleague agencies everybody is low.”…
