Seattle, WA – Skies across the Pacific Northwest could glow with color Sunday night as a rare geomagnetic storm pushes the aurora borealis into view across Washington, Oregon, and parts of Idaho.
According to NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center, a G3-level geomagnetic storm triggered by a coronal mass ejection (CME) is forecast to reach Earth early March 23 UTC, with visibility peaking Sunday night through early Monday. These conditions may allow residents from Seattle to Portland, and as far inland as Spokane and Boise, to catch the Northern Lights overhead.
