EUGENE, Ore. – Court documents show that the defense attorney for Sean Joseph Lynn successfully convinced a judge to approve therapy for his client as he awaits trial while in custody at the Lane County Jail.
Michael Hajarizadeh petitioned the court in October and November of last year to pay for 10 sessions – at 163 dollars per hour – of counseling for Lynn but was denied, according to court records. Court documents show that, last month, he was successful upon his third attempt.
Lynn is accused of murdering his mother’s long-term boyfriend, 49-year-old Derrick Adam Mckee, at a Coleman Road home near Coburg last August, according to court documents. Court records show Lynn may have acted in self-defense, but has significantly struggled to cope with the allegations that he is responsible for a death, and because of that, has struggled to cooperate in his defense. His attorney writes that Lynn has significant difficulty reviewing evidence in the case or discussing case-related material because of psychological distress and trauma surrounding the shooting, according to court records. Court documents said that the lawyer asked to bring in an outside therapist from Oregon State Hospital, because the treatment options are very limited in the jail, in hopes of helping Lynn to adequately assist in his defense…
