Eugene Resident Punched in the Face by Two Men Setting off Mortars During the Early Hours of the Morning

EUGENE, Ore. — Two men who were setting off mortars in a Eugene neighborhood during the early hours of yesterday (Monday) morning attacked a resident after he confronted them with a bat.

The incident unfolded when Central Lane 911 received a report at 2.58 a.m. that shots were fired at two nearby locations.

A short while later, an officer patrolling near West 15th Avenue and Jefferson Street was flagged down by the 35-year-old resident who said he had been assaulted by two men who punched him in the face. They had fled the scene northbound on Jefferson Street…
