EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene family is warning people about an online scam known as “muse scams,” after their 20-year old daughter was scammed out of $300 and received threatening messages.
The mother and daughter, who wish to remain anonymous, told KEZI 9 News how it all started on TikTok on April 1, when someone directly messaged the daughter’s account.
“It was an art page that was from the previous videos on there that it looked like they would take photos and turn them into paintings,” the mother said. “So when she received the message, they said, ‘Hey, we really like your photo. We’d like to turn this into a painting.’ My daughter accepted and they started chatting.”…
