Eugene man gets probation for online threats to become the ‘next Kip Kinkel’

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A Eugene man who posted violent threats by video – including one in which he threatened to become the “next Kip Kinkel” – was sentenced to five years probation on Wednesday.

Jeffrey Alan Voss, 31, was was originally indicted in Nov. 2024 by a federal grand jury with transmitting interstate threats and attempting to tamper with evidence.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon , Voss made violent threats in multiple videos he posted on social media from Sept. 24 to Sept. 27, including two videos in which he held a firearm.

Officials added that Voss discussed becoming Kinkel in one particular video, referring to the man who pleaded guilty to the 1998 murder of his parents, as well as a school shooting in Springfield, where he killed two of his classmates and injured 25 more…
