Oregon’s wolf population reaches record number in 2024

EUGENE, OR – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) reported a significant increase in the state’s gray wolf population.

The 2024 minimum count reached 204, marking the first time the population has topped 200 since wolves began returning to Oregon in 2008.

Bethany Cotton, conservation director for Cascadia Wildlands, expressed optimism about the growth. “After several years of very concerning population trends for Oregon’s wolves, the significant growth in our minimum wolf population is very welcome news,” she said…
