OR 2024 wolf report is released

SALEM – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has released its annual report and census of wolves in the state. The minimum known count of wolves was 204, an increase of 15 percent over 2023. A total of 25 packs were documented, with 17 packs containing breeding pairs.

Wolves continued to expand westward with five new packs in the West Wolf Management Zone. A total of 27 wolf mortalities were documented, 22 of which were human-caused.

There were 69 confirmed events of livestock depredation during 2024, compared to 73 the year before. Three wolves were lawfully killed by livestock producers when they were caught in the act of attacking livestock…
