Oregon – Governor Tina Kotek and First Lady Aimee Kotek Wilson traveled to the City of Burns and the Burns Paiute Reservation in Harney County to meet with local and Tribal leaders, emergency response volunteers, and residents affected by recent historic flooding. The visit underscored the state’s commitment to supporting recovery efforts in the region.
During the visit, Governor Kotek announced an initial $40,000 emergency commitment to cover landfill fees for residents removing flood debris from their homes. She also pledged to work with the state legislature, Oregon’s Congressional delegation, and the Burns Paiute Tribe to secure both federal and state recovery assistance—not just for Harney County, but also for Douglas, Coos, and Curry counties, which have also experienced recent flood damage.
