Eugene man facing assault, DUII charges for crash that injured five

MOHAWK, Ore. – A man is in jail after allegedly running from a crash Wednesday night that injured five people, including four children, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, at about 8:30 p.m. on April 16, LCSO deputies and personnel with the Mohawk Valley Rural Fire District responded to a reported multi-vehicle crash in the intersection of Marcola Road and Hill Road. Deputies said their initial investigation showed a Toyota Highlander had failed to stop at a stop sign as it drove east on Hill Road, speeding into the intersection and striking a Dodge Caravan, causing significant damage. Deputies said the Highlander continued onto Sunderman Road and struck a parked vehicle.

Deputies said the adult driver of the Caravan and four children who were passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for their injuries. Deputies said one of the children suffered severe injuries in the crash…
