Local DMV offices face challenges as residents rush to meet REAL ID deadline

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — Wednesday (May 7) is the deadline to get your REAL ID, meaning if you want to travel by air in the U.S. and don’t want to bring your passport with you, you’ll need to get one soon.

In our area, there have been some issues getting REAL IDs, with one woman saying she showed up Wednesday (April 30) to get hers but found that the office was closed.

“When the DMV’s not open, and they’re short-staffed, it makes it difficult to do that,” said Michelle Troskp, who we caught up with at the Junction City DMV office. “I heard the Eugene office was even worse yesterday. So, the state needs to be staffed.”…
